Troubling Your Own House - Proverbs 11:29

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “He that trusts in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind” where we read,

He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind:

and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

The verse begins, He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: Solomon began with the words, “he that troubles” or “the person whether male or female who disturbs, afflicts and stirs up” his own house which means “his, the person's, own personal dwelling place, abode or family” “shall inherit the wind” or “will acquire, possess and be allotted breath of air, gas or that which is animated and with vigor, spirit and vivacity”. Solomon shared how the person who disturbs and afflicts their own home acquire animated air or gas like a vapor.

The verse goes on to say, “and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.” Solomon continues with the words, “and the fool” or “and the person who despises wisdom, mocks when guilty and is quarrelsome and licentious” “shall be servant” which means “will exist as a bondman or a person of servile condition” “of the wise of heart” or “belonging to the person who is skillful, shrewd and prudent within their soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions”. Solomon said the person who is quarrelsome and licentious will exist as the bondman to people who are shrewd and prudent within their souls.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who stir up and disturb their own homes acquire vanity and suffering, and people who despise wisdom culminate in servanthood to those who are prudent and skillful within their souls. God is willing to share His “wisdom” with every person who surrenders to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind as their personal “Savior and Lord” (See James 1:5). When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from “troubling” our own homes and being “servants” to those who have skill and prudence.

Next time Solomon says, “the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
