In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness”, and in chapter eleven and verse seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “when a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish” where we read,
When a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perishes.
The verse begins, “When a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish:” Solomon began with the words, “when a wicked man dies” or “at the time and moment a person whether male or female who is a criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God is ruined, destroyed and caused to be dead”, “his expectation” which means “his, the wicked man's, cord, hope and outcome” “shall perish” or “will flee, escape and be utterly destroyed”. Solomon shared how the hope of people who are evil and hostile to God ceases to exist when their death arrives.
The verse continues, “and the hope of unjust men perishes.” Solomon added the words, “and the hope” or “and the expectation” “of unjust men” which means “belonging to people whether male or female who are troubled, wicked, sorrowful and idolatrous” “perishes” or “vanishes, is blotted out, lost and exterminated”. Solomon said the expectation of people who are wicked and idolatrous vanishes.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the “hope and expectation” of people who are “wicked and unjust” vanishes. In other words, when they die, all their “hope and expectation” dies with them. God wants us to inherit everlasting life with Him, but before we can have a relationship with Him, our sin which separates us from God must be removed. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cause us to have “hope and expectation” to live with Him for all eternity.
Next time Solomon says, “the righteous is delivered out of trouble”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
