In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved”, and in chapter twelve and verse four of Proverbs Solomon said, “a virtuous woman is a crown to her husband” where we read,
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
The verse begins, “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband:” Solomon began with the words, “a virtuous woman” or “a efficient, able, wealthy and mighty female human being” “is a crown” which means “exists as a wreath of splendor” “to her husband” or “to her, the virtuous woman's, male spouse”. Solomon shared how a woman who is efficient and strong is a splendorous wreath or ornament to her “husband”.
The verse continues, “but she that makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” Solomon added the words, “but she that makes ashamed” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the woman who acts in a disconcerted, disappointing and shameful manner” “is as rottenness” which means “exists as decay such as ravages of worms” “in his bones” or “within his, the woman's husband's, body, limbs, members and substance”. Solomon said the woman who lives in a shameful and disconcerted manner becomes decay within the substance and structure of her husband.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how a wife can be a blessing or a curse to her husband. When wives act in an able and efficient way, her life becomes like an ornament to her husband's life. However, when a wife lives in a shameful manner, she becomes a decaying force within his life. God wants us, both husbands and wives, to live in a “virtuous” way, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for all our sins so we may live as He desires. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be “virtuous” through His Holy Spirit.
Next time Solomon says, “the thoughts of the righteous are right”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
