In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked comes in his stead”, and in chapter eleven and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “a hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor” where we read,
An hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
The verse begins, “An hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor:” Solomon began with the words, “an hypocrite” or “a godless, profane and irreligious person” “with his mouth” which means “by the use of his, the hypocrite's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking” “destroys his neighbor” or “mars, spoils, corrupts and ruins the hypocrite's, friend, companion, fellow-citizen and intimate associate”. Solomon shared how a profane and irreligious person uses his “mouth” to corrupt and ruin their fellow-citizen and intimate companion.
The verse continues, “but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” Solomon added the words, “but through knowledge” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover by the means of perception, skill, discernment and wisdom” “shall the just” which means “will people who are righteous, correct and lawful” “be delivered” or “exist as saved, rescued and liberated”. Solomon said liberation would come for people who employ the means of perception and skill.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how there is a difference between the hypocritical person who uses their voice to cause destruction upon their close affiliates and those who gain skill and prudence and are liberated by them. God wants all of us to be “wise” and filled with His “knowledge”, and He proved this when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and three days later to be raised from the dead. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the “knowledge” by His Holy Spirit to be “delivered” for all eternity.
Next time Solomon shares what happens, “when it goes well with the righteous”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
