In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction”, and in chapter ten and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the rich man's wealth is his strong city” where we read,
The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
The verse begins, “The rich man's wealth is his strong city:” Solomon began with the words, “the rich man's wealth” or “the wealthy and noble person whether male or female” “is his strong city” which means “exists as his, the wealthy person's, mighty and bold building, meeting place and town”. Solomon shared how the dwelling place of the wealthy person exists as powerful and mighty.
The verse goes on to say, “the destruction of the poor is their poverty.” Solomon continued with the words, “the destruction” or “the ruin, terror and dismay” “of the poor” which means “belonging to people who are weak, thin and as one that is needy and low” “is their poverty” or “exists as their, the poor people's, impoverishment”. Solomon said the ruin belonging to people who are weak and needy exists as their impoverishment.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon the difference between the “rich” person and the “poor”. The power and might of people who are wealthy is evident in their lives, and the ruin in impoverishment of people is revealed as well. God wants us to be “rich” in a personal relationship with Him, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who came into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and become wealthy and stable as we live in the foundation of the “riches” of Jehovah God. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time Solomon says, “the labor of the righteous tends to life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
