In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “He is in the way of life that keeps instruction: but he that refuses reproof errs”, and in chapter ten and verse eighteen of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “lying lips and uttering slander” where we read,
He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is a fool.
The verse begins, “He that hides hatred with lying lips, ...” Solomon began with the words, “he that hides hatred” or “he, the person whether male or female who conceals, covers and makes secret exceeding hatefulness” “with lying lips” which means “by the use of deceptive, disappointing, fraudulent and deceitful physical lips used for speaking”. Solomon began to share about what happens to a person is who conceals exceeding hatefulness with their fraudulent “lips” used for speaking.
The verse continues, “... and he that utters a slander, is a fool.” Solomon added the words, “and he that utters” or “and he, the person whether male or female who speaks, declares and proclaims” “a slander” which means “whispering defamation, evil report or unfavorable saying” “is a fool” or “exists as a dullard, simpleton, arrogant one and stupid fellow”. Solomon said the person who declares and proclaims a whispering defamation along with concealing exceeding hatefulness exist as a dullard and a stupid fellow.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who conceal exceeding hatred and proclaim evil reports are arrogant and simpletons. God wants us to follow His path for living, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He gave us access to be forgiven our sins, granted everlasting life and taught to love rather than “hate” and to proclaim good sayings so we won't exist as “fools”.
Next time Solomon says, “in the multitude of words there wants not sin”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
