Blessings on the Just's Head - Proverbs 10:6

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that gathers in summer is a wise son: but he that sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame”, and in chapter ten and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “blessings are upon the head of the just” where we read,

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

The verse begins, “Blessings are upon the head of the just: Solomon began with the word, “blessings” or “gifts, benedictions and prosperity” are upon the head which means “exists on the summit, upper part, chief and tip top” “of the just” or “belonging to the lawful, righteous and correct”. Solomon shared how gifts and prosperity exist upon the upper part and summit of people who are lawful and correct.

The verse continues, “but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.” Solomon added the words, “but violence” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover wrong, cruelty and injustice” “covers the mouth” which means “conceals and hides the orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking” “of the wicked” or “belonging to the criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon said cruelty and injustice conceals the “mouths” of people who are criminal and hostile to God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who are lawful and righteous exist with gifts and prosperity, however, the “mouths” of people who are criminal and evil people who are cruel and unjust are concealed. In other words, people who are “wicked” conceal their “violent intentions”. God's desire is to deliver people from their unlawful and unjust ways, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so people could be free from them. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the concealing words of those who are evil and hostile to God.

Next time Solomon says, “the memory of the just is blessed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
