The Abominable Thoughts of the Wicked - Proverbs 15:26

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow”, and in chapter fifteen and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “the thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD” where we read,

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD:

but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

The verse begins, “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD:” Solomon began with the words, “the thoughts” or “the devices, plans, purposes and inventions” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God” “are an abomination” or “exists as disgusting, unclean, abhorrent and idolatrous” “to the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. Solomon shared how the purposes and plans of people who are evil and hostile to God exist as disgusting and abhorrent to Him.

The verse goes on to say, “but the words of the pure are pleasant words.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the words” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the speeches, declarations, proclamations and sayings” “of the pure” which means “belonging to people who are morally, ceremonially and ethically clean” “are pleasant words” or “exist as kind, delightful, beautiful and favorable speeches, declarations, proclamations and sayings”. Solomon said the declarations and proclamations of people who are morally and ethically clean exist as kind and favorable.

When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how God knows the “thoughts” and “words” within every person, and when a person is evil and hostile to Him, He considers their plans as idolatrous and disgusting. He knows when the souls, minds and wills of people are morally clean, and their speeches are favorable and delightful to Him. God knows “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), and for this reason He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and purify our “words” so they become “pleasant” and agreeable to Him.

Next time Solomon shares about, “he that is greedy of gain”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
