In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD has made all things for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil”, and in chapter sixteen and verse five of Proverbs Solomon said, “every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD” where we read,
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD:
though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
The verse begins, “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD:” Solomon began with the words, “every one that is proud in heart” or “each, the whole and all people who exist as arrogant, haughty and lofty within their souls, minds, wills, desires, living beings, conscience and seat of emotions and afflictions” “is an abomination” which means “exists as disgusting, abhorrent and idolatrous” “to the LORD” or “toward Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon shared how all people who are arrogant and haughty within their souls exist as disgusting and idolatrous to Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” Solomon continued with the words, “though hand join in hand” or “even if people link their physical hands together”, “he shall not be unpunished” which means “the person whether male or female will in no way or manner exist as guiltless, clean, pure, purged, innocent and exempt from punishment”. Solomon said even if people link with each other by the physical hands, the arrogant and haughty person will in no way be exempt from punishment and purging.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who are haughty and arrogant are disgusting to Jehovah God, and even if they attempt to gather others with them to defend themselves, God will not count them innocent. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for everyone. He offers us an opportunity to receive Him as our “Savior and Lord” but if we proudly and arrogantly refuse and reject Him, His “punishment” awaits and nothing will keep us from it. Let all who read these words take heed, and should there be one who is “proud” in their “heart”, let them humble themselves and receive Jesus today.
Next time Solomon says, “by mercy and truth iniquity is purged”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
