In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of the violent man, “he shuts his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he brings evil to pass”, and in chapter sixteen and verse thirty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “the hoary head is a crown of glory” where we read,
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
The verse begins, “The hoary head is a crown of glory, ...” Solomon began with the words, “the hoary head” or “the physical head with aged, old and grey hair” “is a crown of glory” which means “exists as a wreath of splendor, beauty, finery and renown”. Solomon said grey hair upon a person is like unto an ornament of splendor and beauty.
The verse goes on to say, “... if it be found in the way of righteousness.” Solomon continued with the words, “if it be found” or “whether and in case it, the hoary head, is discovered, secured, attained and detected” “in the way of righteousness” which means “within the traveled road, path, journey, manner and habit pertaining to that which is right, just, truthful and justified”. Solomon said grey hair upon a person exists as a “crown of glory” “if” it is discovered within a traveled road and path of that which is right, just and correct.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how grey or white hair upon a person is like a wreath or coronation of splendor and honor when the person is discovered to be just, right, correct and lawful. The “hoary head” on it's own has no particular value, but when we align ourselves with God's ways, we will be honored before Him and others. God loves us, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He made forgiveness of sins, eternal life and the ability to walk in His ways available to everyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Let all who read these words seek Jehovah God and allow Him to fill their heads with grey and white hair of wisdom and “righteousness”.
Next time Solomon says, “he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
