In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city”, and in chapter sixteen and verse thirty-three of Proverbs Solomon said, “the lot is cast into the lap” where we read,
The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
The verse begins, “The lot is cast into the lap;” Solomon began with the words, “the lot” or “the portion, recompense, retribution and destiny” “is cast into the lap” which means “is thrown or hurled into the bosom, bottom or midst”. Solomon shared how the device used for determining an amount, direction or turn is thrown into the midst of those looking for gain.
The verse goes on to say, “but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the whole disposing thereof” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the total and every judgment, ordinance, determination and deciding of a case within the lot” “is of the LORD” which means “exists from Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon said every judgment and ordinance within “the lot” is determined by Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we see how a person has the ability to throw a “lot” or dice, but the result of the throw depends upon Jehovah God. God rules, and His desire and passion is to have a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to trust Him with the results for any undertaking and venture we cast forth in our lives.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon share about, “a dry morsel” and “a house full of sacrifices”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
