In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath”, and in chapter fifteen and verse twenty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD will destroy the house of the proud” where we read,
The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
The verse begins, “The LORD will destroy the house of the proud:” Solomon began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “will destroy” which means “shall pluck, pull, tear away and root out” “the house of the proud” or “the dwelling place, habitation and abode belonging to people who are lofty and arrogant”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God would tear away and pluck out the dwelling place of people who are arrogant and self-important.
The verse continues, “but he will establish the border of the widow.” Solomon added the words, “but he will establish” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover he, Jehovah God, shall appoint, station and make firm and upright” “the boarder” which means “the boundary, region and territory” “of the widow” or “belonging to the woman whose husband has died”. Solomon said Jehovah God would make firm and upright the boundary and territory belonging to the woman whose husband passed away.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how Jehovah God involves Himself in the affairs of mankind. First, He will root out the dwelling place of people who are haughty and arrogant, and He will make firm and protect the territory belonging to widows. God loves people, and pride keeps them from humbling themselves before Him, surrendering to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins and allowing Him to be the “Savior and Lord” of their lives. When we yield to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of being “humble” and caring for His “widows”.
Next time Solomon says, “the thoughts of the wicked are an abomination”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
