In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A reproof enters more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool”, and in chapter seventeen and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “an evil man seeks only rebellion” where we read,
An evil man seeks only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
The verse begins, “An evil man seeks only rebellion:” Solomon began with the words, “an evil man” or “a criminal, guilty of crime, wicked and hostile to God person whether male or female” “seeks only rebellion” which means “requires, desires, exacts and demands solely, surely and indeed insurrection, uprising, revolt and unrest”. Solomon shared how wicked people who are hostile to God solely desire uprisings, revolts and unrest.
The verse continues, “therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.” Solomon added the words, “therefore a cruel messenger” or “this being so and consequently a brutal, savage and terrible envoy or representative” “shall be sent against him” which means “will be dispatched and assigned in opposition to the evil person who seeks only rebellion”. Solomon said as a result of the “evil” person's “rebellion” a savage envoy would be dispatch in opposition to them.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we see how people who are wicked and hostile to God solely desire insurrection, revolt and unrest. For this reason, they will be assigned a brutal and savage envoy in opposition to them. God wants people to align with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for every evil, wrong and wicked way of man. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us away from the “rebellious” people who shall certainly be addressed by savage and brutal “messengers”.
Next time Solomon says, “let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
