In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Excellent speech becomes not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince”, and in chapter seventeen and verse eight of Proverbs Solomon said, “a gift is as a precious stone” where we read,
A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that has it: whithersoever it turns, it prospers.
The verse begins, “A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that has it:” Solomon began with the words, “a gift” or “a present, reward or bribe” “is as a precious stone” which means “exists similar and in likeness to a favored, beautiful, acceptable, gracious, charm-filled and hewn magic stone” “in the eyes of him” or “within the physical eyes belonging to the person whether male or female” “that has it” which means “who holds, owns and possesses the precious stone”. Solomon shared how a reward or present exists similar to a valuable magic stone within the vision of the person who possesses it.
The verse goes on to say, “whithersoever it turns, it prospers.” Solomon continues with the words, “whithersoever it turns” or “in whatever and every way the precious stone appears, veers and changes direction”, “it prospers” which means “it, the precious stone, flourishes, thrives and succeeds”. Solomon said whatever way the “precious stone” within the site of the one who possesses it is successful regardless of the way it changes direction.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how the person who receives a reward or bribe believes success will come to them regardless of where they turn. God Almighty determines the way of people especially anyone who will yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and give us the ability to prosper no matter where we go in life. (See John 16:13; Acts 1:8)
Next time Solomon says, “he that covers a transgression seeks love”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
