In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight”, and in chapter fifteen and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “the way of the wicked is an abomination” where we read,
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD:
but he loves him that follows after righteousness.
The verse begins, “The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD:” Solomon began with the words, “the way” or “the road, journey, direction, manner and habit” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God” “is an abomination” or “exists as disgusting, idolatrous and morally abhorrent” “unto the LORD” which means “toward Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon shared how the manner of living of people who are evil and hostile to Jehovah God exists as disgusting and idolatrous to Him.
The verse goes on to say, “but he loves him that follows after righteousness.” Solomon continued with the words, “but he loves him” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover Jehovah God has affection for him, the person whether male or female who has passion” “that follows after righteousness” which means “who pursues, runs after, chases and attends closely to being right, just, correct and lawful”. Solomon said Jehovah God is passionately affection for the person who pursues being right, just and lawful.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God responds to people who live in a manner that is evil and hostile to Him. Their way is disgusting to God, and yet, when people pursue being right and correct, He has great fondness and affection for them. God loves us, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to pursue His “righteousness” while we enjoy His affection forever.
Next time Solomon says, “correction is grievous unto him that forsakes the way”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
