In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “it is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness”, and in chapter sixteen and verse thirteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “righteous lips are the delight of kings” where we read,
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.
The verse begins, “Righteous lips are the delight of kings;” Solomon began with the words, “righteous lips” or “right, just, correct and lawful physical lips used for speaking” “are the delight” which means “exist as the pleasure, favor, goodwill and acceptance” “of kings” or “belonging to royal rulers and leaders”. Solomon shared how the right and just speaking of physical “lips” exists as the pleasure of royal rulers and leaders.
The verse goes on to say, “and they love him that speaks right.” Solomon continued with the words, “and they love him” or “and they, the kings, have affection and desire for the person whether male or female” “that speaks right” which means “who utters, declares and proclaims what is straight, upright, correct, fitting and proper”. Solomon said royal rulers and leaders have desire, affection and favor for people who make just and lawful declarations.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who speak with lawful and correct “lips” bring pleasure to the royal ruler, and leaders favor people who declare correct and lawful words. God wants us to use our speech in alignment with His perfect will and plan, and when we confess our sins to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and put our faith and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to use our voices in accordance with the guidance of His Holy Spirit.
Next time Solomon says, “the wrath of a king is as messengers of death”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
