Pleasant World as a Honeycomb - Proverbs 16:24

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips, and in chapter sixteen and verse twenty-four of Proverbs Solomon said, “pleasant words are as an honeycomb” where we read,

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

The verse begins, Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, ...Solomon began with the words, “pleasant words” or “kind, delightful, beautiful and favorable utterances, speeches, sayings and answers” “are as an honeycomb” which means “exist as comb of dripping honey”. Solomon shared how utterances and sayings that are kind and favorable are similar to a “honeycomb” dripping with honey.

The verse continues, “... sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” Solomon added the words, “sweet to the soul” or “sweetness to the heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions”, “and health to the bones” which means “and a cure, profit and soundness to the essence, substance and limbs of a person”. Solomon said “pleasant words” are like sweetness to a person's heart and mind, and they are curing and profitable to essence of a person.

When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn the value of kind and favorable “words”. When delightful “words” are spoken to a person, their hearts are encouraged, lifted up and blessed, and their entire outlook and essence can change. God gives us His “pleasant words” in the Bible which become refreshing and inspiring as we read what He has to say. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to use “sweet words like a honeycomb” to encourage and bless others with His favor.

Next time Solomon says, “there is a way that seems right unto a man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
