In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it”, and in chapter sixteen and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “in the light of the king's countenance is life” where we read,
In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.
The verse begins, “In the light of the king's countenance is life;” Solomon began with the words, “in the light” or “within the brilliance and radiance” “of the king's countenance” which means “pertaining to the presence, face and front of the royal ruler and leader” “is life” or “exists fresh, active and lively living”. Solomon shared how the face and presence belonging to the royal ruler exists as fresh and active living.
The verse goes on to say “and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.” Solomon continued with the words, “and his favor” or “and his, the royal ruler and leader's, pleasure, delight, goodwill and acceptance” “is as a cloud” which means “exists similar and in likeness to a cloudy mass” “of the latter rain” or “belonging to the spring rain”. Solomon said the royal ruler's pleasure and delight exists like a thickened cloud within the springtime rain.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how brilliance and illumination upon the face of a royal ruler exists as fresh and active living, and his pleasure is likened unto a thick cloud in the sky filled with the spring rain. As the ultimate ruler God loves people, and He desires to shine His face upon and “favor” them. He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us recognize the brilliance of the royal ruler's presence and favor through His Holy Spirit.
Next time Solomon says, “how much better is it to get wisdom than gold”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
