In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusts in the LORD, happy is he”, and in chapter sixteen and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “the wise in heart shall be called prudent” where we read,
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
The verse begins, “The wise in heart shall be called prudent:” Solomon began with the words, “the wise in heart” or “the skillful and shrewd within their soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections” “shall be called prudent” which means “will be vociferated and exclaimed as discerning, understanding, distinguishing and perceiving”. Solomon shared how people who are skillful and shrewd within their souls will be exclaimed as understanding and perceiving.
The verse goes on to say, “and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.” Solomon continues with the words, “and the sweetness” or “and the pleasantness and agreeableness” “of the lips” which means “belonging to the physical lips used for speaking” “increases learning” or “adds, joins and continues gaining insight, instruction and doctrine”. Solomon said the pleasantness of the physical lips continues to gain insight and instruction.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we see how the person who is shrewd within their soul will be recognized for their prudence, and they continued to gain insight with their speaking. God wants us to be “wise” in our souls, and when we are, other people will notice it. He wants us to be passionate about instruction and doctrine, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so this could be possible. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to be skillful, prudent and fervent in knowing what He has to say.
Next time Solomon says, “understanding is a wellspring of life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
