The Committing Wickedness Abomination - Proverbs 16:12

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work, and in chapter sixteen and verse twelve of Proverbs Solomon said, “it is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness” where we read,

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

The verse begins, It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness:Solomon began with the words, “it is an abomination” or “it exists as disgusting, abhorrent and idolatrous” “to kings” which means “to royal rulers and leaders” “to commit wickedness” or “to perform, make, prepare or execute wrong, violence, iniquity and crime against civil law”. Solomon said it is disgusting to a royal rulers when people execute iniquity and wrong.

The verse continues, “for the throne is established by righteousness.” Solomon added the words, “for the throne” or “because, surely and doubtless the seat of royal dignity, authority and power” “is established” which means “exist as set up, fixed, firm and stable” “by righteousness” or “through the means of what is right, just, correct and lawful”. Solomon said the seat of authority and power is made firm through the means of what is just, correct and right.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how leaders are disgusted with evil acts and deeds, and being just, right and lawful makes stable the seat of authority they sit upon. God is the ultimate authority, and He gives power to whom He chooses. (See Daniel 2:21) God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach the royal rulers that His just, right, correct and lawful authority is absolute.

Next time Solomon says, “righteous lips are the delight of kings”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
