In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walks uprightly”, and in chapter fifteen and verse twenty-two of Proverbs Solomon said, “without counsel purposes are disappointed” where we read,
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.
The verse begins, “Without counsel purposes are disappointed:” Solomon began with the words, “without counsel” or “not having, owning or possessing council, assembly, company and intimacy” “purposes are disappointed” which means “devices, thoughts, plans and inventions exist as frustrated, violated, ineffectual and broken”. Solomon said whenever there is no company or intimate advice received by a person their plans and intents are frustrated and broken.
The verse goes on to say, “but in the multitude of counselors they are established.” Solomon continued with the words, “but in the multitude of counselors” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover within the abundance and numerous amount of advisors, consultants and deliberations” “they are established” which means “they, the purposes and plans of a person, exist as arisen, powerful, confirmed, fixed, valid and proven”. Solomon said when there are an abundant amount of advisors a person's plans and intents are validated and proven.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how it is important to obtain a numerous amount of advisors so plans may be made firm and established. However, if we neglect receiving counsel, we do so to the demise of our intentions. God wants us to use wisdom and insight from others as we make our purposes and plans, and when we ask Him, He will give His Holy Spirit to us as we receive His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord” who died on the cross for our sins . God's Spirit will “guide us into all truth” (See John 16:33), and He will provide others who have godly insight and counsel to help us fulfill His purposes in the world.
Next time Solomon says, “a man has joy by the answer of his mouth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
