In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD”, and in chapter sixteen and verse two of Proverbs Solomon said, “all the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes” where we read,
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weighs the spirits.
The verse begins, “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;” Solomon began with the words, “all the ways of a man” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the paths, traveled roads, journeys, directions, manners and habits of a person whether male or female” “are clean” which means “exist as clean and pure” “in his own eyes” or “within the person whether male or females' own personal eyes used for vision”. Solomon shared how each of the manners and habits of people exist as clean and pure within their own sight.
The verse continues, “but the LORD weighs the spirits.” Solomon added the words, “but the LORD” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “weighs the spirits” which means “regulates, measures, ponders, proves and tests the vivacity, vigor, courage, patience, motive and disposition of people”. Solomon said Jehovah God examines and is aware of the courage, patience and disposition of people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how people view their own habits and manners as pure, however, Jehovah God measures the true disposition within them. God knows and loves us all, and because we have sin in our lives, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our errors and wrongs. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and purify our motives and vivacity as we live before His eyes.
Next time Solomon says, “commit your works unto the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
