In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Have not I written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “that I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth” where we read,
That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth;
that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you?
The verse begins, “That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth;” Solomon began with the words, “that I might make you know” or “so I, Solomon, may cause you, the readers and listeners to Solomon's words, to perceive, see, find out, discern, discriminate and distinguish” “the certainty of the words” which means “the truth, reality and balanced verity pertaining to the speeches, utterances and proclamations” “of truth” or “belonging to that which is firm, faithful, sure and reliable”. Solomon shared how the “counsels and knowledge” that he taught his readers and listeners would cause them to be aware of the sureness and reality of the truthful and reliable speeches and declarations.
The verse continues, “that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you?” Solomon added the words, “that you might answer” or “so you, the readers and listeners of Solomon's words, may be able to deliver and render a response with” “the words of truth” which means “the speeches, declarations and proclamations pertaining to that which is firm, faithful, sure and reliable” “to them that send unto you” or “to the people whether male or female who dispatch, assign and direct to you, the readers and listeners to Solomon's words”? Solomon questioned whether the people he was teaching would understand that they would be able to truthfully respond to those dispatched to them.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that he wanted his listeners and readers to have the “truth” in a sure and reliable way because this would allow them to respond to people who were dispatched to them in a truthful manner. God loves people, and His desire is to fill them with His wisdom so they know how manage their lives in this world. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us “truthful wisdom” through His Holy Spirit so we will be able to respond to others in a manner that is pleasing to Him.
Next time Solomon says, “rob not the poor, because he is poor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
