Even a Child is Known by His Doings - Proverbs 20:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD”, and in chapter twenty and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “even a child is known by his doings” where we read,

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

The verse begins, Even a child is known by his doings, ...” Solomon began with the words, “even a child” or “also, indeed and moreover a lad, lass or youth” “is known by his doings” which means “exists as recognized, regarded, observed and noticed through the means of his, the child's, deeds, practices, acts, inventions and endeavors”. Solomon said indeed a youth is recognized through the means of their practices and deeds.

The verse goes on to say, “... whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.” Solomon continued with the words, “whether his work be pure” or “if or in case the child's, doings, works and things done exists as clear and clean”, “and whether it be right” which means “and if and in case it, the work of the child, exists as straight, upright, correct, fitting and proper”. Solomon said a “child is known by his doings” through the means of their acts and deeds being clean, fitting and proper.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how children are recognized through the means of their acts and deeds as to whether they are clean and proper. God knows all our works whether we are children or not, and He is aware that “there are none righteous, no, not one”. (See Romans 3:10) This is why He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and purify our “works” to make them “right” like small children whose “works” are being observed.

Next time Solomon shares about, “the hearing ear, and the seeing eye”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
