In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “It is a snare to the man who devours that which is holy, and after vows to make inquiry”, and in chapter twenty and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “a wise king scatters the wicked” where we read,
A wise king scatters the wicked, and brings the wheel over them.
The verse begins, “A wise king scatters the wicked, ...” Solomon began with the words, “a wise king” or “a royal ruler and leader who is skillful, shrewd and prudent” “ scatters the wicked” which means “spreads out, casts away, sifts and disperses like wheat the people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon shared how the royal ruler disperses people who are evil and hostile to God like wheat.
The verse continues, “... and brings the wheel over them.” Solomon added the words, “and brings” or “and returns and turns back ” “the wheel over them” which means “the threshing wheel over the wicked”. Solomon said the royal ruler runs the threshing wheel over the people who are evil and hostile to God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how royal rulers rid themselves and their kingdoms of people who are evil and hostile to God, and to insure that they are completely gone, he threshes them like wheat and crushes them completely by running the threshing wheel over them. God loves us, but He hates evil. Sin is evil, and “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23). “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (See Romans 6:23). This is why God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us by His Holy Spirit trust Him to attend to “the wicked” through the leaders He has appointed to rule.
Next time Solomon says, “the spirit of a man is the candle of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
