In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spends it up”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that follows after righteousness and mercy finds life” where we read,
He that follows after righteousness and mercy
finds life, righteousness, and honor.
The verse begins, “He that follows after righteousness and mercy ...” Solomon began with the words, “he that follows after righteousness” or “the person whether male or female who pursues, attends to closely and chases that which is just, right, correct and lawful” “and mercy” which means “and kindness, goodness and faithfulness” shall do the following. Solomon said the person who pursues that which is right, just and correct as well as kindness and faithfulness will discover the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... finds life, righteousness, and honor.” Solomon continued with the words, “finds life” or “discovers, attains, secures and acquires fresh, active and lively living”, “righteousness” which means “truthfulness, justification, salvation and prosperity”, “and honor” or “and glory, abundance, splendor and dignity”. Solomon said the person who pursues that which is just and lawful will discover fresh and active living, justification, salvation, glory and splendor.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the benefits of pursuing the right, just, lawful and kind ways of Jehovah God. When we seek to live according to His righteous ways, we discover active living accompanied by salvation, prosperity and glory. God wants to bless us, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He proved His love toward us that will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us in a pursuit of Him and His ways by His Holy Spirit for all the days of our glorious life.
Next time Solomon says, “a wise man scales the city of the mighty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
