Counsel in the Heart of Man - Proverbs 20:5

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out”, and in chapter twenty and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “counsel in the heart of man is like deep water” where we read,

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;

but a man of understanding will draw it out.

The verse begins, Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; Solomon began with the words, “counsel in the heart of man” or “advice, purpose and prudence within the soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections belonging people whether male or female” “is like deep water” which means “exists similar and in likeness to water with mysterious and unsearchable depths”. Solomon shared how advice and prudence within the soul, mind and will of a person exists like water with great and mysterious depth.

The verse continues, “but a man of understanding will draw it out.” Solomon added the words, “but a man of understanding” or “however, notwithstanding, nonetheless and moreover a person whether male or female with intelligence, skill and knowledge” “will draw it out” which means “shall let down a bucket to deliver and lift up the counsel in the heart of a man”. Solomon said a person who possesses intelligence and knowledge shall deliver and lift up the “counsel” within the soul, mind and will of a person.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we realize advice and prudence within the soul and mind of people are very deep and often hard to reach, however, a person who has intelligence and skill is able to bring them forward from the person. God made us, and He loves us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins because He knows us deep within. When we yield to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the wisdom and knowledge to “draw out” the deepest counsel within the “souls” of others.

Next time Solomon says, most men will proclaim every one his own goodness, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
