In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy”, and in chapter twenty and verse twenty-nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “the glory of young men is their strength” where we read,
The glory of young men is their strength:
and the beauty of old men is the gray head.
The verse begins, “The glory of young men is their strength:” Solomon began with the words, “the glory” or “the beauty, splendor, honor and renown” “of young men” which means “belonging to youthful people both male and female” “is their strength” or “exists as their, the young men's, wealth, power and authority”. Solomon shared how the beauty and splendor belonging to youthful people exists as their power and authority.
The verse goes on to say, “and the beauty of old men is the gray head.” Solomon continues the words, “and the beauty” or “and the ornament, splendor, honor and majesty” “of old men” which means “belonging to people both male and female” “is the gray head” or “exists as hoary, grey and aged physical head”. Solomon said the ornament and splendor belonging to aged people is the grey hair on their physical heads.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we see how the power and might of younger people becomes their honor, and the silver or grey hair upon the heads of aged people exists as an ornament to them. God loves all people, and when we have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow strength when we are young and “gray heads” when we are “old” to become our splendor, majesty and authority as we make our way through life.
Next time Solomon says, “the blueness of a wound cleanses away evil”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
