The King's Heart in the Hand of the LORD - Proverbs 21:1

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The blueness of a wound cleanses away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse one of Proverbs Solomon said, “the king's heart is in the hand of the LORD” where we read,

The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water:

he turns it wherever he will.

The verse begins, The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water:” Solomon began with the words, “the king's heart” or “the royal ruler and leader's soul, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections” “is in the hand” which means “exists within the physical hand of authority, power and might” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”, “as the rivers of water” which refers to “similar and in likeness to the water streams that flow”. Solomon said the power and authority of Jehovah God exists similar to channeled water within the soul, mind and will of a royal ruler and leader.

The verse goes on to say, “he turns it wherever he will.” Solomon continued with the words, “he turns it” or “he, Jehovah God, stretches out, extends, bends and spreads the king's heart” “wherever he will” which means “in whatever place and direction he, Jehovah God, desires, delights, takes pleasure in or is pleased” Solomon said Jehovah God bend and stretches out the “heart” of the royal ruler and leader in whatever direction pleases Him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that Jehovah God is involved in the direction and decisions of royal rulers and authorities. Although they may believe themselves to be in control, God directs them according to His Divine purposes and will. God loves people, and He set authorities over them. He desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and assure us that He is in control of all authorities and rulers who govern in the world.

Next time Solomon says, “every way of a man is right in his own eyes”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
