In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “it is naught, it is naught, says the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasts”, and in chapter twenty and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel” where we read,
There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
The verse begins, “There is gold, and a multitude of rubies:” Solomon began with the words, “there is gold” or “there exists the precious and valuable metal gold”, “and a multitude of rubies” which means “and an abundant amount and numerous volumes of precious stones, corals, jewels or peals”. Solomon shared how valuable “gold” metal and an abundance of precious stones exist.
The verse goes on to say, “but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the lips of knowledge” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the physical lips used for speaking pertaining to perception, skill, discernment, understanding and wisdom” “are a precious jewel” which means “exist as a valuable, honorable, splendorous, costly and esteemed implement, utensil, object and article”. Solomon said the physical lips that possess understanding and wisdom exist as a valuable and splendorous implement or object.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how “lips” that speak with understanding and wisdom are more valuable than precious “gold” and numerous costly implements. God, who is all wise, will give His wisdom to everyone who asks Him (See James 1:5) especially when they have yielded themselves to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to use our speech with understanding and wisdom that originates from God Himself.
Next time Solomon says, “take his garment that is surety for a stranger”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
