The Eyes of the LORD Preserve Knowledge - Proverbs 22:12

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend, and in chapter twenty-two and verse twelve of Proverbs Solomon said, “the eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge” where we read,

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge,

and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.

The verse begins, “The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, ... Solomon began with the words, “the eyes of the LORD” or “the face, favor, fountain or furrow of mental and spiritual faculties belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “preserve knowledge” which means “guard, watch over, keep and protect perception, skill, discernment, understanding and wisdom”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God's “eyes” watch over and protect discernment, wisdom and understanding.

The verse goes on to say, “... and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.” Solomon continued with the words, “and he overthrows” or “and he, Jehovah God, distorts, overturns, ruins and twists” “the words” which means “the speeches, utterances, proclamations and declarations” “of the transgressor” or “belonging to the treacherous, faithless, deceitful and offensive”. Solomon said Jehovah God distorts and ruins the speeches and utterances of the person who is faithless and offensive.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how Jehovah God is watching and keeping guard over perception and understanding, and He distorts and ruins the speeches of the person who is deceitful and offensive. Sometimes we may wonder if God really hears and sees the words and actions of people who are foolish and speak in a manner that is opposed to Him and His word. The answer is yes, and He will judge the words of every person. (See Matthew 12:36) When God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He made a way to be forgiven for every sin people commit, speech, lack of knowledge or otherwise. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and assure us that He is well award of all “knowledge” that may be obtained and every “word” that is spoken by us and the “transgressors” in the world.

Next time Solomon says, “the slothful man says, there is a lion without”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
