Loving Pureness of Heart - Proverbs 22:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “cast out the scorner and contention shall go out; yes, strife and reproach shall cease, and in chapter twenty-two and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “he that loves pureness of heart” where we read,

He that loves pureness of heart,

for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

The verse begins, He that loves pureness of heart, ... Solomon began with the words, “he that loves” or “the person whether male or female who has strong affection, appetite and passion for” “pureness of heart” which means “pertaining to the moral and ethical cleansing of their soul, mind, will, desires, living beings, conscience and seat of emotions and affections”. Solomon said the person who has passionate affection for a clean soul, mind and will shall have the following.

The verse continues, “... for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.” Solomon added the words, “for the grace” or “because, since and on account that the favor, charm, elegance and acceptance” “of his lips” which means “belonging to the person's physical lips used for speaking” “the king” or “the royal ruler and leader” “shall be his friend” which means “will exists as the person's intimate companion, fellow-citizen and neighbor”. Solomon said because the person“loves pureness of heart”, they shall speak with their lips in such a way that the royal ruler will be their neighbor and friend.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon the advantages and benefits that are received by the person who has a strong affection for a clean “heart”, and when their “soul, mind and will” is clean, their words will put them in a favorable relationship with the royal ruler and leader. God wants to purify our hearts, and He does this when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we make Him our personal “Savior and Lord” by surrendering to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us a passionate affection for a “pure heart” that rulers and authorities shall notice and make themselves our “friend”.

Next time Solomon says, “the eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
