In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge. For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall withal be fitted in your lips”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “that your trust may be in the LORD” where we read,
That your trust may be in the LORD,
I have made known to you this day, even to you.
The verse begins, “That your trust may be in the LORD, ...” Solomon began with the words, “that your trust” or “so the faith, confidence, refuge and security of your, the readers and listeners of Solomon's words” “may be in the LORD” which means “might exist within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomonsaid the “words of the wise” and the “understanding” of Solomon would cause a person to have their faith and confidence within Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “... I have made known to you this day, even to you.” Solomon added the words, “I have made known” or “I, Solomon, have revealed” “to you this day” which means “to you, the people reading the words of Solomon, upon this very sunrise to sunset”, “even to you” or “also and indeed to you, readers and listeners to Solomon's words”. Solomon shared how he revealed to the people reading and listening to his words his wisdom and direction so their faith would be in Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon wanted his readers and listeners to have their confidence within Jehovah God, so he taught them God's wisdom and understanding. God loves people, and He wants us to know Him. (See John 17:3) He sent us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with the “knowledge” of Him through His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth for living. (See John 16:33)
Next time Solomon says, “have not I written to you excellent things”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
