In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “a wicked man hardens his face: but as for the upright, he directs his way”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse thirty of Proverbs Solomon shared about, “no wisdom, understanding nor counsel” where we read,
There is no wisdom nor understanding
nor counsel against the LORD.
The verse begins, “There is no wisdom nor understanding ...” Solomon began with the words, “there is no wisdom” or “there exist not any skill, shrewdness or prudence” “nor understanding” which means “or any intelligence, insight or reason” for the next part of our verse. Solomon said there did not exist any skill, shrewdness, prudence, insight or reason against the following.
The verse continues, “... nor counsel against the LORD.” Solomon added the words, “nor counsel” or “no and not any purpose or advice” “against the LORD” which means “in opposition to Jehovah who is the existing One which is the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon said there existed no skill, insight, reason, advice or purpose that can avail in opposition to Jehovah God.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we see through Solomon the futility of anyone who thinks they are able to prevail against Jehovah God with their “wisdom, understanding or counsel”. God is all wise, and nothing exists beyond His creative ability. He knows everything, and He realizes our need for a Savior from the penalty of death for our sins. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and instruct us in the futility of anyone attempting to refute Him and His plan for the salvation of people.
Next time Solomon says, “the horse is prepared against the day of battle”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
