The Horse Prepared for Battle - Proverbs 21:31

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “there is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse thirty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “the horse is prepared against the day of battle” where we read,

The horse is prepared against the day of battle:

but safety is of the LORD.

The verse begins, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle:” Solomon began with the words, “the horse is prepared” or “the stallion or horse exists as set up, made firm, fixed and firmly established” “against the day of battle” which means “for the time period pertaining to engagement, fighting and war”. Solomon shared how the warrior horse is fixed, made ready and firmly established in preparation for the time of fighting and war. 

The verse goes on to say, “but safety is of the LORD.” Solomon continued with the words, “but safety” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover salvation, deliverance and rescue” “is of the LORD” which means “exist from Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Solomon said salvation and rescue comes from Jehovah God. 

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon where true salvation and rescue comes. God saves people, and He gives them security and “safety” regardless of how prepared people are for a time of fighting. God knows us, and He loves us. He becomes our protection and provision when we surrender to His Son Jesus who came into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and ask Jesus into our lives, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and establish us in His deliverance according to His Divine purpose and will. 

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon say, “a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
