In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that sows iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse nine of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed” where we read,
He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed;
for he gives of his bread to the poor.
The verse begins, “He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed;” Solomon began with the words, “he that has a bountiful eye” or “the person whether male or female who holds, owns and possesses a good, pleasant, agreeable, kind and excellent physical eye for sight and vision or mental and spiritual faculties ” “shall be blessed” which means “will exist as O how happy, adored, saluted and praised”. Solomon shared how the person who is kind and generous will exist as O how happy and adored.
The verse continues, “for he gives of his bread to the poor.” Solomon added the words, “for he gives” or “because, since and on account that the person grants, bestows, constitutes and assigns” “of his bread” which means “pertaining to the person's grain or food” “to the poor” or “toward people who are impoverished, in need, in want and destitute”. Solomon said the reason the person with a “bountiful eye” will be “blessed” is because they bestow grain and food to people who are impoverished and destitute.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how God pays particular attention to people who are kind and generous to those who are impoverished, and when they bestow food and nourishment to the destitute, He will bless them. God loves all people, and He offers His salvation through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make us happy and adored as we give to those less fortunate than us.
Next time Solomon says, “cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
