In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “by humility and the fear of the LORD, are riches, and honor, and life”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse five of Proverbs Solomon said, “thorns and snares are in the way of the froward” where we read,
Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward:
he that does keep his soul shall be far from him.
The verse begins, “Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward:” Solomon began with the words, “thorns and snares” or “barbs like a cactus-hedge and gins, traps or springing nets” “are in the way” which means “exist within the traveled road, journey, path and direction” “of the froward” or “belonging to people who are twisted, distorted, crooked and perverse”. Solomon shared how barbs and traps are in the pathway of people who are twisted, crooked and perverse.
The verse continues, “he that does keep his soul shall be far from him.” Solomon added the words, “he that does keep his soul” or “the person whether male or female who guards, watches over, gives heed to and has charge of their heart, mind and will” “shall be far from him” which means “will exist as separate, distant, extended and apart from the person who is froward”. Solomon said the person who watches over their heart, mind and will shall separate and keep their distance from the path of the “froward”.
When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we see how there are difficulties, troubles and obstructions to people who are making their way in a distorted manner, however, the person who guards their heart, mind and will shall distance themselves from those people. God wants us to be aware of people who act in crooked ways, and when we employ His wisdom, we will keep a great distance from them. God loves us, and He knows what is best for our lives. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to be aware of people who are “froward” as we distance ourselves from them when they appear.
Next time Solomon says, “train up a child in the way he should go”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
