In Psalms chapter nine David said, “the LORD shall endure for ever: he has prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness”, and in chapter nine and verse nine of Psalms David said, “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed” where we read,
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
The verse begins, “The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, ...” David began with the words, “The LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “also will be a refuge” or “even so and indeed will exists as a high and secure place as well as a retreat” “for the oppressed” which means “on behalf of the crushed, afflicted and injured”. David shared how Jehovah God exists as a secure place and retreat for people who have been injured and afflicted.
The verse goes on to say, “... a refuge in times of trouble.” David continued with the words, “a refuge” or “a high and secure place as well as a retreat” “in times of trouble” which means “in experiences, fortunes, occurrences and occasions pertaining to distress, vexation and straits”. David wrote how Jehovah God would also be a “retreat and secure place” whenever a person encounters distressing situations and vexing times.
When we think through the words in this verse, David expresses his security in Jehovah God for people who are crushed, injured and afflicted, and He is a retreat for people who experience vexing situations and difficult times. God knows the “troubles and afflictions” people encounter, and He wants people to run to Him when “troubles” arise. This is why it is so important for us to put our faith and trust in God's Son Jesus. When we humble ourselves before Him, repent of our sinful ways and yield ourselves to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be a “refuge” for us when we face difficulties and afflictions. God loves us, and let us give Him praise and honor for who He is and who He desires to be in our lives.
Next time David says, “they that know your name will put their trust in you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
