Judah Inheriting God's Portion - Zechariah 2:12

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me unto you”, and in chapter two and verse twelve of Zechariah, Zechariah shares how Jehovah God said, “the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion” where we read,

And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

The verse reads, And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, ... Zechariah began with the words, “and the LORD” or “and Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall inherit Judah” which means “will acquire, possess and be allotted Judah whose name means praised and was the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “his portion” or “his, Jehovah God's, share, part and parcel” “in the holy land” which means “within the sacred, separate and set apart country, territory, region and district”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God would acquire and be allotted “Judah” as His share within the sacred and set apart territory and country of Israel.

The verse goes on to say, “... and shall choose Jerusalem again. Zechariah continued with the words, “and shall choose Jerusalem” or “and will decide for, elect and select Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and is the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split” “again” which means “another time”. Zechariah shared how Jehovah God would select and elect the city of “Jerusalem” yet another time.

When we consider Zechariah's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God claimed “Judah” as His own share of the land of Israel. God loves Israel, Judah and Jerusalem, and He desires to be their LORD God Almighty as He does with everyone in the world. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and anyone, including us, who humbles themselves, repents of their sin and receives Jesus as their “Lord and Savior” shall be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and given an understanding that God rules and reigns over Israel and the entire world from which He chooses “Judah” and “Jerusalem” as His “portion”.

Next time Zechariah says, “be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
