In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He waters the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your works”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse fourteen of Psalms the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He causes the grass to grow for the cattle” where we read,
He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man:
that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
The verse begins, “He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man:” The Psalmist began with the words, “He causes the grass to grow” or “He, Jehovah God, sprouts, grows and springs up the herbage and hay” “for the cattle” which means “for the beasts, animals and livestock”, “and herb” or “and green grass plants” “for the service of man” which means “for the labor, effect, office and work of people both male and female”. The Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God grows the herbage and hay for the animals and livestock to eat, and He provides the green grass for people to labor and work.
The verse continues, “that he may bring forth food out of the earth;” The Psalmist added the words, “that he may bring forth food” or “so he, the people who are in service, might proceed, go forward, lead and deliver bread, grain and victuals” “out of the earth” which means “from the land, ground, country, territory, region and world”. The Psalmist said the “green grass” is provided for mankind so that nourishment, bread and victuals are produced to eat.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how he Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God makes the herbage and hay to be produce so the animals and livestock may be fed, and He employs the green grass to provide work for people to produce their bread and nourishment. God provides for the animals and people, and He not only gives them food, but He also sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time the Psalmist says, “wine makes glad the heart of man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
