Where the Birds Make Their Nests - Psalms 104:17

In Psalms one hundred four the Psalmist said, “the trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted”, and in chapter one hundred four and verse seventeen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how the trees are, “where the birds make their nests” where we read,

Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.

The verse begins, Where the birds make their nests:” The Psalmist began with the words, “where the birds” or “in what place the flying fowls and little birds” “make their nests” which means “form, fashion and construct their, the flying fowls and little birds', built home or nestle”. The Psalmist said the flying fowls make their habitations within the trees which are irrigated by Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “as for the stork” or “even like and similar to the kind and affectionate stork bird'”, “the fir trees” which means “the cypresses, junipers or pine trees” “are her house” or “exists as her, the stork's, dwelling place, abode and habitation”. The Psalmist referred to how the “kind and affectionate” “stork” makes it's home within the “fir or cypress trees.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared more about God's creation. He fashioned the “cedar trees” so that “flying fowl” make their homes within them, and He made the “fir tree” so the “storks” could fashion their homes within them. (See Luke 12:7) God cares for the birds, and He cares about us as well. God loves us, and He sent His Only Begotten Son to die on the cross for the sins of us all. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be a part of His Creation including the dwelling places for the “birds” and “storks”.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the high hills are a refuge for the wild goats”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
