Waters Covering Israel's Enemies - Psalms 106:11

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said concerning the people of Israel that Jehovah God, “rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the waters covered their enemies” where we read,

And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

The verse begins, And the waters covered their enemies: The Psalmist began with the words, “and the waters” or “and the violent waves or floods” “covered their enemies” which means “concealed, overwhelmed and hid their, the people of Israel's, hating foes and adversaries”. The Psalmist referred to the way the waters within the Red sea overwhelmed the people of Israel's hating foes, the Egyptians, when Jehovah God allowed them to return to their normal state after Israel safely crossed on dry ground.

The verse continues, there was not one of them left. The Psalmist added the words, “there was not one of them” or “there existed not one single person within the Egyptian pursuers” “left” which means “that remained or was left over and behind”. The Psalmist said not a single Egyptian was left behind when the waters of the Red sea overwhelmed them.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way the Egyptian army was overwhelmed by the overflowing waters of the Red sea when Jehovah God allowed them to return to their original state. God thoroughly eliminated them, and although they believed they could recapture the people of Israel, they were shown differently by Jehovah God. God protects and provides for Israel, and His desire is to do the same for every person today. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and attend to those who hate us according to His Divine purpose and will.

Next time Psalmist says, “then believed they his words”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
