Observing God's Statutes and Keeping His Laws - Psalms 105:45

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God delivered the people of Israel from Egypt and He, “remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant. And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness. And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labor of the people”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse forty-five of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God gave them the lands of the heathen, “that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws” where we read,

That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise you the LORD.

The verse begins, That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. The Psalmist began with the words, “that they might observe” or “so they, the people of Israel, would give heed to, guard and have charge of” “his statutes” which means “his, Jehovah God's, ordinances, limits, prescribed tasks and portions”, “and keep his laws” or “and give heed to, guard and have charge of his, Jehovah God's, directions, instruction, manner and codes”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God provided the Gentile lands to the people of Israel so the nation of Israel would give heed to His ordinances and have charge of His instructions and codes.

The verse goes on to say,Praise you the LORD. The Psalmist continued with the words, “Praise you” or “shine forth, be boastful, commend and glory in” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist exhorted the people reading and listening to His words to boast and glory in Jehovah God.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist gave the reason why Jehovah God bestowed the territory and regions of the Gentile nations to the people of Israel. God wanted Israel to give heed to and take charge of His “law” or instructions. Israel was to be the nation that led every nation into a personal relationship with God, and through Israel God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide an opportunity to give Him praise, honor and glory for all eternity.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “Praise you the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
