Hearts Turned to Hate God's People - Psalms 105:25

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said, “Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham, and he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse twenty-five of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “turned their heart to hate his people” where we read,

He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtly with his servants.

The verse begins, He turned their heart to hate his people, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “he turned their heart” or “He, Jehovah God, overturned, overthrew, changed and transformed their mind, soul, understanding, desire, living being and seat of emotions and passions” “to hate his people” which means “to be odious to and as foes to his, Jehovah God's, nation and people group”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God caused the mind and soul of Israel's foes, the people of Egypt, to be hateful and odious toward the people of Israel. (See Genesis 15:13)

The verse continues,... to deal subtly with his servants. The Psalmist added the words, “to deal subtly” or “to conspire against, beguile and be deceitful” “with his servants” which means “alongside his, Jehovah God's, bondmen, men of servile condition and worshipers”. The Psalmist said the hating foes and adversaries, Egypt, began to be deceitful and conspire against the nation of Israel. (See Exodus 1:11-16)

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God changed the minds and souls of the people of “Egypt” when they saw the increase in the people of Israel. God permitted the people of “Egypt” to become taskmasters over the people of Israel, and to fulfill prophesy, Israel was to be slaves to “Egypt” for four hundred years. (See Genesis 15:13) Although there was a great delay of time for the people of Israel, God would send His deliverer, “Moses”, whom we shall read about in our next verse. This is much like our “Savior Jesus” who is God's Son and Messiah that was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, grant us everlasting life and have our lives managed according to His Divine purposes and plan for us.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “sent Moses his servant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
