Touch Not My Anointed - Psalms 105:15

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God told Jacob or Israel, “Unto you will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance. When they were but a few men in number; yes, very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people. He suffered no man to do them wrong: yes, he reproved kings for their sakes”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse fifteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said, “touch not my anointed” where we read,

Saying, Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

The verse begins, Saying, Touch not my anointed, ... The Psalmist began with the word, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “touch not my anointed” which means “do not reach out, strike or approach to defeat my, Jehovah God's, consecrated one which refers to the Messiah”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said to the people and royal rulers who might have come against Israel, do not strike or approach to defeat His consecrated Messiah.

The verse continues,... and do my prophets no harm. The Psalmist added the words, “and do my prophets” or “and in no way or manner do my, Jehovah God's, spokesmen, speakers or inspired men” “no harm” which means “not any bad, evil, injury or displeasing wickedness”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God instructed the people and royal rulers who might oppose Israel not to do them any evil, wickedness or bad.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God exhorted the people and royal rulers who might oppose Israel not to strike them nor perform any wickedness against them. Israel is God's nation, and the people within it are under His provision and protection. God's Son and Messiah Jesus came through the lineage of Israel, and the entire world was to benefit from their blessing of being responsible for Him. God wants an intimate personal relationship with us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross and raise from the dead three days later to make that possible. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and watch over and protect us even as He does the people of Israel.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “called a famine upon the land”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
