God Confirming His Covenant with Jacob - Psalms 105:10

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “has remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse ten of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “confirmed the same unto Jacob” where we read,

And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

The verse begins, And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “and confirmed the same” or “and took a stand, remained and continued the equal and identical covenant” “unto Jacob” which means “toward Jacob whose name means heel-catcher or supplanter and was the son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel” “for a law” or “as a statute, ordinance, prescribed task or portion”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God continued the equal and identical “covenant” with “Jacob” that He promised to “Abraham and Isaac”, and it became an ordinance and statute for him and his people.

The verse goes on to say, “... and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: The Psalmist continued with the words, “and to Israel” or “and toward Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “for an everlasting covenant” which means “as an eternal, never ending, perpetual and continual alliance, pledge, treaty, constitution and ordinance”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's eternal alliance and pledge was given to “Israel”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist continued to share about the passing of Jehovah God's eternal “covenant” from generation to generation. His promise began with “Abraham”, then “Isaac”, then “Jacob” and now to “Jacob or Israel's” descendants for ever and ever. “Israel” is God's chosen people, and through them the entire world was to come into a personal relationship with Him. (See Genesis 18:18 and Galatians 3:8) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join in His eternal “covenant” that began with “Abraham” and is extended to the entire world.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God said, “Unto you will I give the land of Canaan”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
