Seed of Abraham and Children of Jacob - Psalms 105:6

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said, “Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvelous works that he has done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist exhorted the, “seed of Abraham” and “the children of Jacob” where we read,

O you seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen.

The verse begins, O you seed of Abraham his servant, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “O you seed of Abraham” or “O you offspring posterity and descendants belonging to Abraham whose name means father of a multitude and was the friend of God and founder of Hebrew nation via God's elective covenant” “his servant” which means “his, Jehovah God's, bondman and worshiper”. The Psalmist began to exhort the posterity and descendants belonging to “Abraham” who was Jehovah God's bondman and worshiper.

The verse goes on to say,... you children of Jacob his chosen. The Psalmist continued with the words, “you children of Jacob” or “you, offspring, descendants and posterity belonging to Jacob whose name means heel-holder or supplanter and was the son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham, and father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel” “his chosen” which means “his, Jehovah God's, selected and elected one”. The Psalmist addressed the posterity and descendants belonging to “Jacob” who was Jehovah God's elected one.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist put his attention on the posterity of “Abraham and Jacob”. He wanted them to remember Jehovah God's marvelous acts and deeds because they would be advantaged for doing so. God wants us to think about who He is and what He has done especially for us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and open our understanding about Him and the labors and works He has performed.

Next time the Psalmist says, “he is the LORD our God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
