Praise and Give Thanks to the LORD - Psalms 106:1

Psalms one hundred six begins with the Psalmist saying, “Praise you the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred six and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said in full,

Praise you the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.

The verse begins, Praise you the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; The Psalmist began with the words, “Praise you” or “those who are reading and listening to these words shine, be boastful and glorify” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. “O give thanks” or “O grant, bestow and provide laudation, gratitude and thanksgiving” “unto the LORD” which means “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist instructed every one who is reading and listening to his words to glorify, exalt and give thanksgiving to Jehovah God.

The verse continues, for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever. The Psalmist added the words, “for he is good” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, exists as pleasant, agreeable and excellent”: “for his mercy” which means “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” or “lasts for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore and perpetually”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God is pleasant, agreeable and excellent and His goodness, kindness and faithfulness which lasts perpetually and for evermore.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist exalts the character of Jehovah God. God is worthy to be honored and glorified, and we should give Him thanksgiving and glory for who He is and the perpetual goodness and kindness He extends to all who believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. God wants to forgive our sins, and He has provided everlasting life for everyone who surrenders to Jesus. Let us join those who give Jehovah God glory, honor, praise and thanksgiving for His provision for all mankind.

Next time Psalmist asks, “Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
