The King Sent and Loosed Joseph - Psalms 105:20

In Psalms one hundred five the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “called for a famine upon the land: he broke the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant. Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron. Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him”, and in chapter one hundred five and verse twenty of Psalms the Psalmist shared how, “the king sent and loosed him” where we read,

The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

The verse begins, The king sent and loosed him; The Psalmist began with the words, “the king” or “the royal ruler Pharaoh of Egypt” “sent and loosed him” which means “extended and stretched out to set Joseph free from his bonds”. The Psalmist shared how the Pharaoh of Egypt dispatched people to set Joseph free from his chains and imprisonment. (See Genesis 41:14)

The verse goes on to say, even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. The Psalmist continued with the words, “even the ruler” or “indeed the governor and the one with dominion and power” “of the people” which means “belonging to nation, members of one's country-men, compatriots, kinsmen and kindred”, “and let him go free” or “and allowed and permitted him, Joseph, to be loosed, thrown open and loosened”. The Psalmist referred to how Pharaoh of Egypt allowed Joseph to be loosed and set free from prison.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist mentioned the setting free of Joseph by the Pharaoh of Egypt. When God's timing had come, He created the circumstance by which His servant Joseph would be loosed from prison and would eventually save the people of Israel. God knew His plan and purpose for Joseph's life, and He knows ours. God wants to save us for all eternity, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and manage our lives according to His purposes and plan. Although our current situations may not seem to be in our favor, God will use them to fulfill His will in us and those to whom He has in mind. (See Romans 8:28)

Next time the Psalmist shares how the king, “made him lord of his house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
