Not Believing God's Word - Psalms 106:24

In Psalms one hundred six the Psalmist said the people of Israel, “forgot God their savior, which had done great things in Egypt. Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea. Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them, and in chapter one hundred six and verse twenty-four of Psalms the Psalmist shared how the people of Israel, “believed not his word” where we read,

Yes, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

The verse begins, Yes, they despised the pleasant land, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “yes, they despised” or “even so and indeed, they, the people of Israel, rejected, refused and abhorred” “the pleasant land” which means “the desired, precious, delightful and goodly territory, region, ground and country”. The Psalmist said the people of Israel abhorred the desired and precious country where Jehovah God led them.

The verse goes on to say,... they believed not his word: The Psalmist continued with the words, “they believed not” or “they, the people of Israel, did not support, confirm, uphold or make firm” “his word” which means “his, Jehovah God's, saying, utterance, speech and advice”. The Psalmist shared how the people of Israel did not trust in and rely upon Jehovah God's sayings and advice.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how the people of Israel abhorred the country to which Jehovah God led them because they did not support or uphold God's advice to them. God knew what was best for the people of Israel, and He knows what is best for us. He is willing to lead us by His Holy Spirit when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and ask Him to forgive us, He will forgive our sins, cleanse us from all unrighteousness and help us to trust in, rely upon and cling to Him and His “word” throughout eternity.

Next time the Psalmist shares how the people of Israel, “murmured in their tents”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
